3530 Procedure – Fundraising Activities Involving Students

Guidelines for student fundraising activities are as follows:

A. Fundraising activities must not interfere with the educational program and shall be of direct benefit to the students, school and/or educational process.

B. All parties involved in fundraising activities shall be sensitive to the issue of resource equity, with no school or student body being unreasonably advantaged or disadvantaged in comparison to others, i.e., large expenditures for computer labs, staff or permanent facilities, etc.

C. Student/staff participation must be voluntary.

D. Fundraisers (raffles, etc.) shall adhere to all Gaming Commission regulations.

E. All parties involved in fundraising shall be sensitive to the demands placed on the community through a multitude of fundraising efforts. Fundraising activities shall be coordinated through building principals to alleviate over burdening the community and its agencies.

F. Fundraising activities conducted by associated student bodies or sub-groups thereof must conform to the district ASB accounting requirements. Expenditures of all ASB funds must be approved by the ASB.

G. Sponsorship of fundraising activities by schools’ official parent groups, even where moneys realized will be donated to associated student bodies, is encouraged to minimize accounting difficulties. If fundraising activities are co-sponsored by a student body organization and a parent group, an arrangement for the proportional sharing of expenses and profits or losses should be made prior to initiation of fundraising.

H. Sponsorship opportunities for the district will be subject to certain restrictions in keeping with the standards of good taste and will model and promote positive values for our In keeping with this, no sponsorship will be allowed which is in poor taste, which fails to promote positive values for our students or which otherwise may be prohibited by law, including, but not limited to, materials which fall within the following categories:

    1. Promotes hostility, disorder or violence
    2. Attacks ethnic, racial or religious groups
    3. Is libelous
    4. Violates the rights of others
    5. Inhibits the functioning of the school
    6. Overrides the school鈥檚 identity
    7. Engages in political activities or influences legislative decisions at the federal, state and local levels, participates in any campaign on behalf of any candidate for political office or supports or opposes any political candidate or ballot measure.
    8. Promotes the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons or firearms
    9. Promotes religion, religious matters, religious organizations or establish a religious tenet or a position about religion, such as atheism.
    10. Is lewd, obscene or vulgar

I. Fundraising activities in excess of $5000 must be submitted by the principal to the superintendent for approval. Application for approval must include:

    1. The sponsoring group.
    2. The proposed activity.
    3. The manner in which the money is to be collected; and
    4. The purpose.

J. All equipment and materials donated from funds raised under these guidelines shall become the property of 番茄影视 Public Schools. The district shall make every effort to retain this equipment at the local school.

K. Any outside group other than an official school-parent group must have superintendent or designee approval before conducting fundraising activities within a school or schools. Such outside organizations or persons seeking to raise funds from or through students:

    1. Must work through established official parent organizations and not with or through student body organizations or the administration.
    2. Will not collect money in school buildings as part of fundraising activities.
    3. May display a sign announcing a fundraising activity.
    4. May notify families of the fundraiser through official school newsletters.
    5. Brochures explaining the program may be made available to students through the school office.
